Loyola/Notre Dame Library names Katy O鈥橬eill director

The , which provides information services and resources to 今晚六合彩开奖结果 and Notre Dame of Maryland University, named Mary Catherine 鈥淜aty鈥 O鈥橬eill as library director. O鈥橬eill, who was unanimously appointed by the library鈥檚 board of trustees, will begin in the role on Oct. 1.

鈥淲ith a firm focus on mission, a passion for working directly with a range of library users, meaningful consortial experience, strong connectivity to our universities, and a watchful eye on the continually evolving library landscape, Katy is a proven leader who will continue to advance the Loyola/Notre Dame Library for the betterment of our excellent library staff and the two outstanding universities that it serves,鈥 said Stuart A. Smith III, president of the Library鈥檚 Board of Trustees.

O鈥橬eill has served the library in different roles since 2012, including as associate director of research and technology services since 2016. She brought previous library experience at the University of Maryland 鈥 Global Campus, the United States Naval Academy, and the National Archives.

鈥淟oyola鈥檚 commitment to academic excellence, cura personalis, and service learning have always energized me in my work at the Loyola/Notre Dame Library, so I am thrilled by the opportunity to continue to support student success in this new role as the next director,鈥 O鈥橬eill said.

O鈥橬eill holds a Master of Library Science from the University of Maryland and a Certificate in Library Leadership in the Digital Age from Harvard University. She has been active in the library community with a variety of publications and presentations while also becoming an emerging leader in the University System of Maryland and Affiliated Institutions consortium of libraries and the Maryland Library Association, among others.

鈥淜aty brings an extensive background in library leadership and will serve our students and faculty well as the new director of the Loyola/Notre Dame Library,鈥 said Cheryl Moore-Thomas, Ph.D., acting provost and vice president for academic affairs at Loyola. 鈥淲e鈥檙e excited as she enters this new role and leads the library into the future.鈥

Earlier in her career, O鈥橬eill held positions at firms including Booz Allen Hamilton, Fannie Mae and PepsiCo. She holds a Bachelor of Science in organizational development and human resources from Cornell University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from American University.
